Individual Treatment Track
Individual treatment involves weekly or bi-weekly sessions (45-90 minutes) typically spanning over a period of 5-20 weeks, with follow-up sessions as necessary. Individual treatment offers idiographic tailoring of treatment within a structured, evidence-based framework. Sessions may be conducted in-person or by telephone or video call (e.g., via Skype).
Intensive Treatment Track
Intensive treatment involves daily sessions (2.0-3.0 hours) over a period of 2-10 days to provide focused treatment over a short time. Intensive treatments are suitable for many problems, including OCD, specific phobias (e.g., fear of flying/driving/animals), panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. This track is available to all patients, but may be most convenient for patients who reside outside of the New York area.
Family Consultation Track
Are you looking for guidance for how to deal with a family member who is experiencing anxiety symptoms? Do you live with someone who needs treatment but is avoiding it? Family consultations involve one or more meetings (60-90 minutes) to outline an evidence-based course of action, including identification of contextual factors which may contribute to recovery avoidance, and an assessment of treatment needs and options. Consultations can be arranged in-person or via telephone/Skype and scheduling is flexible to accommodate family needs (e.g., weekends, evenings).
Group Treatment Track
Group treatments involve weekly sessions (60-90 minutes) over a period of 10-14 weeks. Patients learn state-of-the-art evidence-based strategies and gain support from others coping with similar symptoms. Currently the following group programs are being offered within this track and additional group programs are being developed:
The Connections Program
Living in the modern age comes with many benefits, but at the same time life is more fraught with stress, anxiety, and sadness than any period in history. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, in any given year 26.2% of the adult population in the United States suffers from an anxiety disorder, 9.5% will experience a mood disorder (e.g., depression), and countless others suffer from significant stress. While many factors may account for these trends, one thing is clear: Our fast-paced lives provide little time to connect and develop intimacy and closeness in our relationships - within ourselves, with others, and with our Spirituality. The Connections Program - a flagship program offerred only at the Center for Anxiety - is a spiritually-based treatment that equips individuals with concrete tools to increase the Connection in their lives. Symptoms can include excessive washing, cleaning, checking, as well as preoccupation with sexual, violent or religious thoughts. This perpetually-running group has three segments: (1) Exposure & Response Prevention, (2) Acceptance/Commitment, and (3) Behavioral Activation. Each segment runs for 4-sessions. Patients can join at the start of any segment and complete or repeat as many segments as they choose. Throughout the program, participants learn evidence-based approaches to treat OCD and its related symptoms.CONTACT THE CENTER FOR ANXIETY FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO JOIN.
